DVLA registrations- the definition

It is mandatory for vehicles to display DVLA registrations. It is a kind of legal requirement used for the identification of vehicles, and also it helps the police in restoring the discipline on the road. A central database holds all the information regarding DVLA registrations. DVLA has at present 80 offices spread across the country each working under the headquarter of DVLA in Swansea. Prefixed number plate is currently the most used format whereas one can even use his name’s initials in DVLA registrations. For motorists today, DVLA number plate is the must have accessory.

Each DVLA registration is unique. There exist much number plate suppliers, from whom DVLA registrations can be bought on certificate and one can keep it for unlimited amount of time until it is assigned to a vehicle. Thus, it allows those people to have one DVLA number plate who don’t even own a car. The certificate remains valid for a year and can be renewed further by paying a meagre amount. However, once it is sold to someone, it is quite difficult for someone else to attain the same. But the good news is that it can be bought back from its owner, provided the owner is willing to sell.
