DISPALCEMENT TRANSDUCERS- LINEAR VARIABLE
Displacement transducers work under the basic principle of mutual induction. It is basically the working of non-electrical energy getting converted to electrical energy. It is comprised of a cylindrical former surrounded by two secondary windings at the side and one winding at the center. One winding at the side should be at the clockwise direction and the other winding should be at the anticlockwise direction. However linear variable displacement transducers have three stages in its working system. If there is an external force and there is no movement in the sides then the net output is zero.
In the second case of displacement transducers if the external force is applied and the steel iron core tends to move in the second hand side then the net out put will be greater inn the left hand side and vice versa if the coil moves in the right hand side. However it has a lot of advantages and disadvantages. The advantages of displacement transducers are infinite resolution, high output and high sensitivity. It has less friction and low power consumption. Displacement transducers has a number of disadvantages also such as very high displacement is required for generating high voltage and it is also greatly effected by temperature changes.
