Hairstyling is a rewarding and satisfying profession. What if people stop visiting your hair salon because of poor working conditions and it is untidy. You will lose customers and money even though you are the best in the town. Moreover, your staff might quit because of unclean working environment. There are some health issues the hair salon owners have to take care of.
Given below are health hazards the hair salon workers and owners have to be aware of and try to prevent the inevitable.
Avoid Smoke
Making your customers comfortable and happy does not mean you allow them to smoke in your hair salon. There are few establishments that allow their customers to do so, but remember the salon is being polluted because of this action. Satisfy the customer by giving him or her top class service and not by giving in to their dangerous demands that can cause harm to others in the hair salon. Hair salons are enclosed establishments; there is no way to let out the smoke from the cigarettes. Apart from smoking, there are other sources that generate smoke and get burnt those are the electrical equipments used. Make sure your plugs and switch boards are made of high quality material.
Chemicals polluting the air
The chemical components in shampoos, hairsprays, dyes and other products used in hair salons can pollute the air. This results in uneasiness and suffocation for the staff, which spends their day working in the hair salon. Chemicals in adhesives can also affect the quality of air inhaled by many in the hair salon. Open the doors after fixed intervals and let these fumes out in the open.
Pathogens are a major problem
Hair salon workers are exposed to people of different ages all day. All these visitors accompany bacteria, viruses and other diseases. Working with public can result in harmful consequences. For example when the winter season starts, with cold and flu all over it is difficult to stay healthy. There are toxins and pathogenic organisms in the air which can cause health hazards specific to the profession.
Do everything possible to prevent these unhealthy factors from becoming a problem.
